Can XAMPP mariaDB be changed by Mysql?

When I installed XAMPP, I found mariaDB in phpMyAdmin in the section Server type

and when I try to access cmd to make a database in MySQL from console I also appeared mariaDB

Until version 5.6.12 1 , XAMPP included MySQL. Then it changed to MariaDB 2 .

In particular, this latest version with MySQL contains:

  • Apache 2.4.16
  • PHP 5.5.28 / 5.6.12
  • MySQL 5.6.26
  • phpMyAdmin 4.4.14
