How to remove slugs from some sections of a site in Wordpress?

1

I have a site in wordpress, which already has theme options to configure the base URL of the site, what I need is to remove the base url when you select a category, I tried plugins but it does not work.

An example of how you are currently www.example.com/base-url/slug-categories/category1

I need to leave it this way www.example.com/slug-category/category1

this when a category is selected, but I also need to make selecting a tag completely eliminate the base slug and the tag slug

Example www.example.com/base-url/tag/slug-tag

I need to leave it like that www.example.com/slug-tag

Thanks in advance.

Personally I would not recommend modifying both the base structure of the Wordpress permalinks, which have been developing and perfecting for years. It seems to me that if you lower the url levels you have a higher risk of them colliding with each other. Be careful with that.

Here is an article that details a bit about the structure of permalinks and what works and how it works better

The bases are given for these reasons:

  • In the "Settings> permanent links" menu, you have put that base in hard.
  • There is a post_type that is called 'base_url'
  • Your WordPress is hosted in a "base_url" folder
  • One of those three reasons is what causes it. To solve each of them you must do the following:

  • Clear that base and save it in changes
  • Here's how to remove it link
  • Go to "General Settings" and modify the WordPress URL
