Conditional formatting for several intervals or a full sheet

1

Applying the conditional format to the whole sheet, I need to color the corresponding cell in Columns C, E, G, etc when the column A: A is "Sat".

For example, if the day January 6 and February 3 (column C and E) is Saturday (Sat) a color is painted.

I have used, in the conditional format, applying to interval C3: Y39 the formula = FIND ("Sat"; A: A) but only color column C.

Short answer

Use =HALLAR("Sáb";$A:$A)

Explanation

  • References of type A1 are relative references
  • References of type $ A $ 1 are absolute references
  • Mixed references have one absolute element while the other is relative, example $ A1.

In the case of the custom formula in the conditional format, this formula is written taking as reference point the cell in the upper left corner of the selected range.

In this case the reference cell would be C1, since it has been placed A: This is interpreted as two columns on the left, however, it is always required to be the A: A column so it should be used the absolute notation, in this case $ A: $ A.
