Install Linux from a mounted cdrom - Red Hat 7

1

I have access through a VPN to a computer which has installed the basics of Linux, it has no visual environment. Try installing KDE and GNOME to incorporate a graphical environment and trying to initiate it, I get an error:

Look in a lot of forums this error and I did not find too much, as it is very generic

That's why I want to reinstall the Linux version.

I have the cdrom mounted but I do not know from which directory I should start the installation, since I have everything like "Uncompressed", I do not have a setup or install to start with.

I can not change the drip, since it is a VM and I do not have access to the physical equipment to change the boot, for this reason I ask for your help, to know from the files that I show below and what is the content of the cdrom , I can install everything again.

Thank you very much, Osky

The startx command should not be run as root, only from another user. Depending on what environment you have installed, it will be more convenient to use kdm (if it is k from your environment), xdm (if you use xfce), etc., to start the Xorg server, and then log in with another user. Try removing the Xauthority file from the root user (it will be hidden in your home, since each user that accesses Xorg has its own), creates a user with the basic permissions (check the man useradd), and uses startx with that user. The Xauthority file will be hidden, so it will be preceded by a period (.) And you will have to list it with the -a option of ls. More about the Xauthority file link
