How to edit the footer of a Wordpress

1

I want to put the links of the privacy policy and cookies in the footer of my website: link , but the topic that I use does not have the footer as a widget so I have to touch the code. I know that the problem with this is that when I update the theme my edition will disappear but I can change it with each update. I have some basic knowledge of PHP but I am not sure which part I have to edit. Anyone who can help me would appreciate it.

Hello Movies Online, I hope you're having a good day.

It is not recommended to touch the item you have purchased. Never touch it , because once it is updated you will lose everything.

You should find the childthemes of the item you purchased, which usually comes with the ZIP. Here is a guide that may be useful: link

Once you have the childtheme , you should go to the orginal theme copy the footer.php paste it into the childtheme folder, then < strong> now if you can modify with certainty and knowing that you will not lose your modifications.

I hope it works for you, best regards!

I agree with Raylin that you should never touch the father topic. Check how to make a child theme (it takes just 2 minutes to make it and it will give you life when you update): link

That on the one hand.

On the other hand, to add a new area widget without headaches, you can use an existing plugin. Eg,

link

Once the child theme has been created and the area widget has been added to the footer, what remains is to add the link to the information pages of cookies and privacy policy.

To do this, make the pages as you would to create any other page. And then paste the link in that area widget by creating a text widget, and:

  • by typing the link in the html tab (using html to create the link), or

  • in "visual" mode using the chain icon (which is how to include a link)

Another thing you can do is find a plugin that does what you need, without needing to touch the code or create a childtheme
