How do I start another operating system?

Maybe this does not come much to the case, but if you can help me, it would be very helpful since I do not know where to look ... It turns out that my teacher passed us an ADIOS.iso program that is on my pendrive now, this program is a virtual machine an operating system that works with Linux ... my doubt is to make it work, I must enter the boot menu and start it direct or I need something more ... or in any case I have blank DVDs ... I do not handle files. So I do not know if I just have to copy it to the DVD and then start it from there ... or I need to do something before I can make it work. I just took operating systems workshop so I'm new to this, I know that for many people it must be simple that's why I ask for your help ...

As I understand you were provided with an image of linux .iso, as you did not explain what I'm asking you for, your teacher indicated that you can do 2 things with the image:

  • Burn the image on a CD / DVD or USB stick for installation on a physical machine, either by partitions or directly as a single operating system. To do this you must create a storage unit Booteable (CD / DVD or USB) for it I use LinuxLive .
  • (My Recommendation) Use the image for installation on a Virtual Machine ( VirtualBox , VMWare , etc). Personally I recommend this option because it is a way to work with different operating systems in a more comfortable way.
