I'm new to Linux and I want to use a virtual machine to start learning Linux OS.

What virtual machine and which version or model of Linux (I'm not clear about what versions or patches are) should download, if you attach the links it would be a great detail.

To create virtual machines you can use VM Virtualbox , which is free.

For the Linux version, since you do not specify what kind of Linux you want, you can start with Ubuntu which It has a graphical interface.

As a virtual machine I use VirtualBox. To start you can start using Ubuntu because it is usually the easiest to start.

I guess you're in Windows . Then, as the others say. Download VirtualBox and then install it. There are several flavors of GNU Linux. A good friendly distro is Ubuntu. Download the latest version, which is the "16.10" .
