Virtual Box does not start

0

I have a problem with Virtual Box, after double clicking it does not start and I do not know how to address the problem ...

I was working without problem with the version VirtualBox-5.0.16-105871-Win in Windows 10, when suddenly I stop working maybe after a windows update, I ran the virtual box installer again, the same version and I click on repair, and nothing ... I do not have a point of restoration of the computer before the updating: / ... I removed the installed updates and nothing ...

Now I do not know if I uninstall Virtual Box and install the same version, or install the latest version, I am afraid that the virtual machines I have configured will be lost ...

Thanks for the support.

The solution as I put in the comment above is to re-install the Virtual Box with the latest update.

Explanation:

The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago: I had that version of VirtualBox (5.0) running on a Windows 10 machine.

Windows 10 had to download some automatic update and one day the machine had restarted and when wanting to open the Virtual Box nothing happened.

I searched a lot, in English and Spanish, and the strangest thing about my problem is that I did not get any type of error or report window. I only managed to track down that the VBox process was closing and for a few seconds there was one from Windows called something like "Error Reporting Process" and then it disappeared too.

I chose to re-install the same version of Virtual Box but that did not work.

Solutions that I tried before the final one (update Virtual Box):

  • Delete the VirtualBox Registers in the Regedit.
  • Clean the folders where the Virtual Box was installed.
  • I managed to fix it by re-installing the new, and latest, version of Virtual Box.
