i / 0 error dev sr0 sector when starting any distribution that I have

0

I have a problem, at the time of starting and showing me the boot screen where are the options to enter the bios. When you select a start it stays frozen. However if I remove the peripherals and restart it starts normally. Now when it starts by default I get the following error i / 0 error dev sr0 sector

And he can not start. However to select the other distribution that I have in my grub as it can not recognize mouse and keyboard, when I start I have to connect them when they are in the grub tab and quickly select another distro. In this case ubuntu comes out the same message and starts normally. Can someone help me? Is it a problem with the disc?

It is possible that grub is misconfigured, and when starting look for the kernel in the cd-rom (Usually, the linux systems locate the cd-rom in / sr0, the HDD in sda and the usb in sdb). My recommendation is that, since it lets you boot ubuntu, run sudo update-grub to update the grub loader.

Regarding the blocking of BIOS: When we connect a pendrive, cd-rom or other storage device, some (especially the old ones) BIOS look for them in a boot loader or operating system. This does not happen in the UEFI, because they start directly without checking anything. Try to disable the usb / cd-rom boot (It is very likely that if your BIOS is old you can not do it without turning off the USB / CD-ROM readers, preventing you from using the peripherals as you already mentioned). Luck! :)

P.D: What BIOS model do you have? Maybe I can help you set it up;)

You can enter the BIOS and check in what order you try to access the CD-ROM, because sr0 is the SCSI device that is normally associated with the CD-ROM; You may be trying to access who knows what you think is a CD and it would be best if you boot directly from disk.

In the BIOS you can also see what options are marked by the USB, there are certain parameters that may not be compatible with the peripherals you are using, normally having activated the functions "legacy" usually makes everything work.

Almost certainly it is a grub problem. As Pablo says, start your Ubuntu and execute:

sudo update-grub
