How to connect slots in PyQt5 from another class

I have generated a file gen_Principal.py from Principal.ui and since it should not be modified I created another class MyClass to connect the signals and slots there.

I want to open a window when I click on the menu. Currently the main window is displayed and does not give errors but does not open the new window.

Does anyone know what is happening? Thanks.

Your problem is in:

app = QApplication([])
window = QMainWindow()
main_window = Ui_MainWindow()
main_window.setupUi(window)

At no time are you creating an instance of MiClase that is your main window, you are creating an instance of Ui_MainWindow , without logic therefore.

You can simply do something like this:

from PyQt5 import QtGui, QtWidgets
from core.gen_principal2 import Ui_MainWindow
from core.gen_otra import Ui_Dialog



class MiDialog(QtWidgets.QDialog, Ui_Dialog):
    def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs):
        super(MiDialog, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs)
        self.setupUi(self)


class VentanaPrincipal(QtWidgets.QMainWindow, Ui_MainWindow):
    def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs):
        super(VentanaPrincipal, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs)
        self.setupUi(self)
        self.pushButton.clicked.connect(self.printSomething)
        self.actionclick_aqui_tambien.triggered.connect(self.abrirVentana)
        self.dialog = None

    def printSomething(self):
        print("OK")

    def abrirVentana(self):
        print("Abriendo dialogo")
        self.dialog = MiDialog(self)
        self.dialog.show()


if __name__ == '__main__':
    import sys

    app = QtWidgets.QApplication(sys.argv)
    main_window = VentanaPrincipal()
    main_window.show()
    sys.exit(app.exec_())

A class MiDialog is also created that inherits from Ui_Dialog and that you can use to implement the logic of this one.
