Can I use open source code from another developer for commercial use?

3

I am making an application for commercial purposes on android and I want to know if I can use a modified version of the examples that are available at developer.android.com or I have to write original code I want to know about these legal issues about software licenses before getting into trouble

Thanks: D

EDIT1: thank you for your comments, I read the articles and reach the following conclusions: 1) I can use third party content in my application as long as I have the respective licenses, whatever their type. 2) I am not obligated to reveal or share the source code of my application. 3) To market my application I have to comply with the requirements, terms and conditions imposed by Google on the Developers Console platform

Correct me if I'm wrong, any feedback is welcome.

That a project is open source does not imply that it is free or its license allows its use for commercial purposes. In each case, you should read the terms of the license.

As here the developer.android.com code licensing is licensed under Apache License Version 2.0 . To be able to use it you must comply with the requirements of the same, in particular point 4 talks about the redistribution of the sources or objects, either the code itself (the one you got from the page) or derivative works from it.
