Close modal by clicking on any space (without button)

0

I have a modal which I have adapted to my web, this code works well, but I would like to add the function that when giving clic anywhere in modal it is also closed, I leave the code attached:

<script>
        // Get the modal
        var modal = document.getElementById('myModal');

        // Get the image and insert it inside the modal - use its "alt" text as a caption

        var images = document.getElementsByClassName("popup");
        var modalImg = document.getElementById("img01");
        var captionText = document.getElementById("caption");

        var i;
        for (i = 0; i < images.length; i++) {
            images[i].onclick = function () {
                modal.style.display = "block";
                modalImg.src = this.src;
                modalImg.alt = this.alt;
                captionText.innerHTML = this.alt;
            }
        }

        // Get the <span> element that closes the modal
        var span = document.getElementsByClassName("close")[0];

        // When the user clicks on <span> (x), close the modal
        span.onclick = function () {
            modal.style.display = "none";
        }
</script>

If you want to close by clicking anywhere in the modal simply add that in the event onclick of div of modal close:

modal.onclick = function(){
    modal.style.display = "none";
}

// Get the modal
var modal = document.getElementById('myModal');

// Get the image and insert it inside the modal - use its "alt" text as a caption
var img = document.getElementById('myImg');
var modalImg = document.getElementById("img01");
var captionText = document.getElementById("caption");
img.onclick = function(){
    modal.style.display = "block";
    modalImg.src = this.src;
    captionText.innerHTML = this.alt;
}

// Get the <span> element that closes the modal
var span = document.getElementsByClassName("close")[0];

// When the user clicks on <span> (x), close the modal
span.onclick = function() {
    modal.style.display = "none";
}

modal.onclick = function(){
	modal.style.display = "none";
}
body {font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;}

#myImg {
    border-radius: 5px;
    cursor: pointer;
    transition: 0.3s;
}

#myImg:hover {opacity: 0.7;}

/* The Modal (background) */

<h2>Image Modal</h2>
<p>In this example, we use CSS to create a modal (dialog box) that is hidden by default.</p>
<p>We use JavaScript to trigger the modal and to display the current image inside the modal when it is clicked on. Also note that we use the value from the image's "alt" attribute as an image caption text inside the modal.</p>

You just have to add tabindex="-1" to the modal in question and you can close it by clicking on the empty space or with the% key% of%

<div class="modal" tabindex="-1">
  <div class="modal-dialog">
    <div class="modal-content">
      <div class="modal-header">
        <button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">&times;</button>
        <h4 class="modal-title">Modal title</h4>
      </div>
      <div class="modal-body">
        <p>One fine body…</p>
      </div>
      <div class="modal-footer">
        <button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
        <button type="button" class="btn btn-primary">Save changes</button>
      </div>
    </div>
  </div>
</div>
